F.A.Q. page for
the Red Army Reenactor's Forum
|
First read through these simple rules. I know, you're tired of having to agree to stuff on the 'Net, but this is simple.
The Red Army List is not,
in the Internet sense, a moderated list, and mailings are not
screened. The list is moderated by the reenactor.Net list moderator and owned by Marsh
Wise. The list moderator's word on disputes is final.
F.A.Q. for Red
Army Reenactors Forum
- No Banning, instead, anyone who breaks rules will be subject to being "moderated" (i.e. censored). In extreme cases, offenders will not be allowed to post at all for awhile (still allowed to receive list messages though). In the case of repeat problem offenders, they will not be able to receive messages or post for a set period of time.
- Nobody is off the list permanently. Soviet medicine can rehabilitate event he worst enemies of the state.
- Posting messages for those who are off "counting trees" (a cutsey Soviet term for being sent to Siberia). Also, posting messages for those not on the list will find THEMSELVES "counting trees"--DON'T DO IT!
- Flames, especially blatant, threatening, offensive flames are grounds for " tree counting" status. What does this mean? Don't be a dick!
- Nobody is trying to kill list posts, but flames, threats, racist or sexist comments and other ignorant, childish bullshit will NOT be tolerated!
- This list is meant to bring Soviet reenactors together AND to help the new person just discovering WWII Soviet reenacting. It is NOT the permanant domain of those would use it as a personal chatroom or bully pulpit.
- The atmosphere of this list is different than most others and this IS understood! [[well, it might have changed, I hope not too much]]--it does not give you license to insult people or make fun of them.
- This is the Red Army Reenactor list and not the Star Trek/Sci-Fi list. It is understood that the vast majority of reenactors are Trek/Sci-Fi fans--a comment once in awhile (e.g. "Yahoo IS the Borg of the Internet!") is okay. Constant babbling about these things is not kosher.
- If someone sends you a message OFFLIST, then by Gawd, KEEP IT THAT WAY, unlesss THEY say it's okay to share it with the list. This is one of those things that sticks a flaming stick up my ass (now that's a apppealing picture, isn't it?)--we do not want/need to hear all the dirty laundry.
- Swearing: I have always said it is okay--this does NOT mean you may call someone a dickhead, an asshole or other word to that effect. If you want to swear or call someone names, do it in Russian, it will improve your impression and it's doubtful they will get it, thereby increasing list harmony and keeping my inbox clean.
- Grow-up! Remember this is a #!@^#$!^$%$! H_O_B_B_Y !!!!!!!!!!!! Do not act like some geeky, 15 year old high school kid--be an adult! E-mail is especially bad in that others cannot see when you are joking--something we usually convey by facial expressions or tone of voice. If someone offends you, wait a day or so before replying AND e-mail them OFF my list. Or say it on the RKKA list--not here.
"How can you make a revolution without executions?" V.I. Lenin.
