The Trappers of Starved Rock Inc. (USA, MO)--CLUB OBJECTIVE: The club is a not-for-profit organization. It is dedicated to bringing together those individuals who are interested in the history, building and shooting of Muzzle loading firearms, and the recreation of that past period of American History.
The Trappers of Starved Rock started out as a club in 1974. The name at that time was "Frontloaders," this original name was derived from the method used to load these primitive firearms. In September 1995 the first formal meeting was held and the name "Trappers of Starve Rock" was adopted. The name was taken from the name the Indians gave this area, "Starved Rock" because food and hunting were scarce due to the westward expansion of the white man. We started shooting as a club in 1974. Our first club shoot of 1975 was held in October at the Daniel Boone home in St. Charles County. We continued to hold our October shoot at the Boone home until we moved to Busch Wildlife area in 1990, in 1995 we moved the annual Rendezvous to a beautiful valley in Sioux Passage Park in North St. Louis County the first weekend of October.
In July of 1976 we received our charter for incorporation and became a not-for-profit organization. At this time we also purchased insurance and legally became affiliated as a club with the NMLRA. In January 1976 we held our first Trade Session or swap meet which has become an annual event the first Sunday in March. Our first Christmas Party or (Buckskin Formal) was in December 1976 and has also become an annual event.

|
UK Shinin' Times (UK)--The official web site of the UK Buckskinners. The mission of this site is to encourage interest and stimulate research, here in the UK, into the early history of the Americas, particularly concerning the North American Fur Trade. There are many living history enthusiasts here in the UK who regularly take part in events up and down the country. But, whenever you go to such an event, invariabley someone says, "I never realised that this sort of thing went on". What seems to be missing is an information system that lets people know whats on and where and when an event is planned. Indeed, it may be that some of our American Brothers (& Sisters) might like to visit a rendezvous or shoot while holidaying in the UK. This then is the second intended function of this site. There is a page for events which will allow organisers to let those interested know they have an event going on. It might also mean that in the future there might be less overlapping events. |
 |
WESTERNHOBBY (Germany)--A muzzleloading and buckskinning site in Germany! This site is "auf Deutsch" and here is my poor translation (pretty interesting even with my bad translation--I suggest you use alata-vista's translator):
This site is to serve purely for the provision of information for the German Hobbyist scene. It is also to provide, in addition, information to non-hobbyists about what we do nad give them an overview of the hobby. Perhaps one can bring one's talents to others so they may learn and then participate actively in the hobby. Please, look at the sites in which you interested!
